PURPOSE: A method for preparing a carbon nanotube-active carbon hybrid electrochemical capacitor and a hybrid electrochemical capacitor prepared by the method are provided, wherein the hybrid electrochemical capacitor has a higher operation voltage of 4.6 V and a remarkably increased capacitor capacity. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of (S10) preparing a carbon nanotube and active carbon; (S30) adding a conductive material and a binder to the carbon nanotube and the active carbon to make a carbon nanotube-active carbon assembly; and (S50) positioning the carbon nanotube-active carbon assembly on a current collector for a hybrid electrochemical capacitor to form a carbon nanotube-active carbon electrode. Optionally (S20) the carbon nanotube and the active carbon are heated at 500-3,000 deg.C before they are formed into a carbon nanotube-active carbon assembly. Preferably the binder is selected from the group consisting of polyvinylidene fluoride, polyvinylidene chloride, poly(vinyl alcohol), polytetrafluoroethylene, phenol resin and carboxyl methyl cellulose; and the conductive material is powdered graphite or conductive carbon black. |
