PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for detecting address information are provided to efficiently detect address information recorded as land pre-pit data. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for detecting address information from an optical disk includes a window generating circuit(62), a data detecting circuit(61), a latch(63), a synchronous information extracting circuit(64), and an address information extracting circuit(65). The window generating circuit generates a window for detecting pre-pit data. The data detecting circuit detects the pre-pit data based on the generated window. The latch latches data, detected by the data detecting circuit, as much as the number of bits larger than a predetermined number of bits. The synchronous information extracting circuit generates synchronous information that informs the point of time when the latched data is referred. The address information extracting circuit reads the latched data on the basis of the synchronous information to detect address information.
