PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing epoch making quickly cooked rice for a microwave oven, capable of being cooked in a short time (for a few minutes) and tasting better than that of conventional one's, and a rice food with a cooking container in the microwave oven.

SOLUTION: This method for producing the quick cooking rice is provided by irradiating microwave on raw rice 1 to form fine cracks 2 on the surface of the raw rice 1, immersing the microwave-treated rice 1A having cracks 2 in water for a few hours and then drying.
