PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial method for industrial water containing a reducing substance the method of which shows a stable and excellent antibacterial effect for a long time on the circulated white water of a paper making factory or an industrial water system containing reducing substances such as latex, color material, starch slurry, pulp slurry, sizing system or the like and which can effectively perform slime control. SOLUTION: The antibacterial method for an industrial water system containing a reducing substance features that a hypochlorite is added in such an amount that the residual concentration of chlorine is not detected to the industrial water system containing a reducing substance under turbulent conditions and that simultaneously or after the addition, an organic antibacterial agent is added.
