FIELD: fiber-optic communication lines. SUBSTANCE: single-mode optical fiber has central part of core, second part of core around central part whose index of refraction is lower than that of central part of core, and envelope disposed around second part of core whose index of refraction is lower than that of second part of core. Chromatic dispersion of fiber in frequency band of 1490-1625 nm is 0.5 to 8.0 ps/(km . nm) or +0.05 to +10.0 ps/(km . nm); effective surface area of core is 45-90 sq. mcm; dispersion inclination ranges between 0.05 and 0.14 ps/(km . sq. nm).
