PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a vehicle running on an adjacent traffic lane speedily and accurately. SOLUTION: When an obstacle comes into an adjacent region, a detector tracks the obstacle based on image data, discriminates the shape of the obstacle, and determines whether the obstacle is a vehicle (S20, S40, S70).
