PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve working efficiency by eliminating work for confirming the direction of steering wheel. SOLUTION: The driving of a motor 32 for power steering is controlled by a target steering speed calculating section 34 and a motor driver 37 so that the steering angle detected by a steering angle sensor 33 may reach a value corresponding to a straight movement condition when a power key is inserted into an insertion hole in a key cylinder and a power switch 43 is turned ON from OFF. Thus, the steering wheel is automatically steered so as to obtain the straight movement condition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
