PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a pneumatic tire in which the engaging properties of the tire is improved by preventing a tire bead part in a PCI step and to provide a shape retaining sheet ring. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the pneumatic tire comprises the steps of assembling the pneumatic tire of a heated state after a vulcanization molding with the shape retaining ring 1 via rims, cooling the tire in the state in which the internal pressure is filled, and postcure-inflating the tire. In this method, the sheet ring in which multiple recesses 4 and protrusions 5 are distributed on the inner surface of a flange 2 in a circumferential direction, is used as the shape retaining sheet ring 1.
