APPARATUS FOR MAKING GROOVE IN CYLINDRICAL WALL OF POLYMERIC CAP, NAMELY OF POLYMERIC COVER FOR CONTAINER AND MACHINE FOR USING SUCH APPARATUS

FIELD: processes and equipment, possibly for making threaded covers with so called "opening indication" having cap and ring for indicating opening. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes mandrel with members for positioning and holding cap mounted on mandrel and several clamping cams. First ends of cams are coupled with mandrel; cams perform rocking motion in plane arranged radially relative to mandrel. On opposite ends cams have arc-shaped blades arranged in plane normal relative to axis of mandrel. Apparatus is provided with members for driving cams and members for moving mandrel and it causes operation of arc-shaped blades. In the result blades move radially from position outside cam to position in which blades engage with wall of cap for forming groove in it. Machine using such apparatus includes rotary vertical shaft; disc joined with said shaft and supporting several apparatuses for forming groove; pan for receiving covers and also flange and rods or drum and slide blocks controlled by means of axial feeler for performing working and return strokes at making groove.
