PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve steering response in a cable type steering device with an assist means. SOLUTION: This cable type steering device which transmits steering torque T inputted into a steering wheel to a steering gear box through a Bowden cable corrects motor driving current It1 map-retrieved based on the steering torque T by correction current It2 map-retrieved based on the yaw rateγof a vehicle or a transverse acceleration Yg to calculate target current It. This correction current It performs the feed-back operation of a power steering motor so that the correction current It may meet actual current I. As a result, degradation in the steering response caused by expansion of a cable with the steering torque by the operation of the steering wheel can be compensated for by compensating for it with the assist force of the power steering motor.
