PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specific gravity separation apparatus capable of continuously and efficiently separating a lightweight matter and a heavy-weight matter by utilizing the specific gravity differences from a liquid. SOLUTION: The specific gravity separation apparatus in the liquid is constituted of a separation tank for separating a liquid held at a predetermined specific gavity and the lightweight matter and heavy-weight matter different in specific gravity in a mixed liquid supplied from a supply part, an inner cylinder opened at its lower end arranged in the separation tank, a screw arranged in the inner cylinder to stirr the mixed liquid so as to generate revolving descending streams, an upper discharge part forming a trough receiving the lightweight matter along with the flooding flow of the liquid going over the upper edge of the separation tank, and a lower discharge part including a pipeline piercing through the lower part of the peripheral wall of the separation tank. The revolving descending streams are formed by the rotation of the screw in the inner cylinder to form ascending streams in the separation tank outside the inner cylinder from the lower end of the inner cylinder and the heavy- weight matter having a specific gravity higher than that of the liquid is separated from the pipeline provided to the peripheral wall of the separation tank while the lightweight matter is separated along with the flooding flow going over the upper edge of the separation tank so as to follow the ascending streams.
