PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a space around the knees of a driver in a driver's seat and to arrange a shift lock release member abutting to a cam member closely to the driver's seat in comparison with conventional arrangement, in which a cam member, a lever member, and a solenoid are arranged in the outer circumference direction of a steering column, for improving operability in a shift lock device for a column type automatic transmission. SOLUTION: In the steering column, the cam member, the lever member communicating the cam member with the solenoid, and the solenoid are arranged in this order from the driver's seat side to the vehicle front side along the center axis of the steering column, and the shift lock release member is brought into contact with the cam member.
