PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for correcting a resistance value whereby a high-productivity thermal head capable of recording good images with less density irregularity to recording papers and capable of meeting high-speed recording while the constitution is maintained to be simple can be obtained. SOLUTION: A plurality of heating elements 3 formed of a resistance thin film and a power supply cable 4 to be electrically connected to the heating elements 3 are applied onto an upper face of a base plate 2, which are coated with a protecting film 6 formed of a mineral material including silicon and oxygen, whereby a head substrate 1 is constituted. A top plate 7 is set onto the head substrate 1 to form a predetermined gap between. In the thermal ink jet head with an ink 9 filled in the gap, a part of heating elements 3 is made to react with the oxygen in the protecting film 6 by impressing trimming pulses to the heating elements 3, thereby forming an oxide film to surfaces of heating elements 3 and raising the resistance value of the heating elements 3.
