PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractor for excluding or drawing an internal organ in endoscopic surgery, the retractor being safe and excellent in operability such that it can be inserted from a trocar or a small incision to achieve a wide exclusion area inside a coelom, while reducing the risk of damaging the organ and eliminating the need to care for the prevention of damage. SOLUTION: The retractor comprises an exclusion part 1 comprising a surface sheet 11 formed as an elastomeric thin film and a frame 12 securing the peripheral edge of the surface sheet 11 to approximately surround the sheet, and a grip part 2 extending from the exclusion part. A superelastic alloy or a shape-memory alloy is used to construct the frame 12 to make the diameter of the exclusion part 1 small enough so that the exclusion part can be inserted through a trocar or a small incision into a coelom. Also, the exclusion part has the function of restoring its original shape with a wide exclusion area inside the coelom. The frame 12 is covered throughout its periphery with a flexible resin, and the grip part 2 and the exclusion part 1 are formed with a similar structure for common use. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
