Secure device for processing a digital signature (10) comprises a cryptography unit (3) for processing the signature of a document originating from a computer (1). The unit has means (3, 13) for selecting a function mode and a display mode, such that the document can be presented to a user of a peripheral without any influence of the computer in the means for processing the signature. The invention also relates to a corresponding chip card for processing a digital signature using an inventive device and a method for realizing a digital signature in which the device to be signed is transmitted to the computer (1).
