PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roller leveller with high versatility for general use. SOLUTION: In the roller leveller 1, an ultrasonic wave emitted from an ultrasonic emission chamber 31 is beamed to a flat face in a bottom of a loop R from either right upside or right downside. Then an ultrasonic wave detector 32 receives the ultrasonic wave reflected at the bottom of the loop R. When ultrasonic wave is applied for detection of the loop amount, the ultrasonic wave inherently to its characteristics comes back without fail, even in case of an irregular surface condition of the material A such as a lead frame or the like. Furthermore, the ultrasonic wave is beamed not from the side of the loop R, but to the flat face of the loop R so that recognition of continual displacement of the loop R becomes easier. Eventually the ultrasonic wave detector 32 can continue to send consistent control signals to a motor 25, which enables accurate, continuous control on the rotation speed of rollers 21, 22. Thus, the roller leveller 1 which enables detection of the loop amount by ultrasonic wave, broadens applicability of the materials A to be roller-levelled and actualizes a highly versatile apparatus.
