PURPOSE: A method for managing an address book of a mobile communication terminal is provided to transmit an address book written in predetermined format to an SMS message center, and to transmit data to a base station where the mobile communication terminal is registered, thereby enabling the mobile communication terminal to download the address book in message type. CONSTITUTION: A user has access to the Internet through a computer(11), and connects to a home page of a service provider of a mobile communication terminal(14), and writes an address book. The user stores the address book, and requests the address book to be transmitted to an SMS message center(12). Inputted address data are transmitted to the SMS message center(12). The address book data are converted according to a type of the mobile communication terminal(14). A registration state of the mobile communication terminal(14) is confirmed, and the mobile communication terminal(14) transmits the data to a base station(13) where the mobile communication terminal(14) is registered. The base station(13) opens a speech channel with the mobile communication terminal(14), and transmits a short message in segmented format.
