PURPOSE: An automatic document feeder is provided to simplify the internal configuration of the document feeding device and easily remove a jammed paper from the feeder. CONSTITUTION: An automatic document feeding device includes an ADF roller(40) and an ADF rubber(42), a rubber holder(44), an ADF spring(54), and a frame(48). The ADF roller and ADF rubber feed documents by their mutual pressing operation. The ADF rubber is placed on the rubber holder and a hinge(46) is set under the rubber holder. The ADF spring is located under the rubber holder to apply elastic force to the rubber holder in the vertical direction. The frame is provided behind the rubber holder and has a support(50) for supporting the rubber holder. The support has a motion converter(52) for converting vertical motion of the rubber holder into tilting motion of the hinge. The hinge and the support are combined with each other through the motion converter.
