PURPOSE: A tilting gear protection apparatus for electric furnace is provided to prevent tilting gears from malfunctioning due to accumulated dust by providing a dust shield, resulting in the stable and reliable gear operation. CONSTITUTION: The tilting gear protection apparatus for electric furnace comprises a rack gear shield(20) having an axial connection with a connection axle on which an elastic spring is wound so as to move to the fixing bracket(26) formed inside a support wall(13), a hinge connection at an upper end thereof, and a passage hole formed on a lower surface thereof through which a protrusion pin formed on an inner surface of the support wall(13) penetrates; and a bellow cover(30) having an upper hinge connection member formed at an upper end so as to be engaged with the hinge connection of the rack gear shield(20) and a lower hinge connection member movably engaged with a fixing bracket(36) formed on an outer surface of the support wall(13).
