PURPOSE: A preparation method of antimony pentoxide(Sb2O5) sol and powder as fire retardants is provided. The resultant antimony pentoxide sol and powder have high concentration, non-precipitation, transparency and yellowing resistance. CONSTITUTION: The colloidal sol of antimony pentoxide is prepared by the following steps of: mixing 1pts.wt. of antimony trioxide(Sb2O3) having 3-4micrometer size and 99.7-99.9% high purity, 3-7pts.wt. of pure water, 0.005-0.03pts.wt. of ethanol amine or salts thereof and 0.005-0.03pts.wt. of KOH, and dispersing; heating the mixture to 55-75deg.C, adding H2O2 slowly for prevention of yellowing and applying ultrasonic waves for complete reaction; adding triethanol amine to adjust the pH of reactants between 6.5-7.5; and concentrating. Also, the antimony pentoxide(Sb2O5) powder is obtained by drying the prepared sol and grinding. |
