PURPOSE: A cell traffic statistics data measuring system of an ATM exchange and a method therefor are provided to accurately detect a traffic flow by measuring cell traffics at every second and generating statistics data based on the measured value. CONSTITUTION: A PDGF(Performance Data Gathering Function) searches exchange data for a previously registered second-unit statistics subject(S401). When an operator registers the second-unit statistics subject and inputs a command requesting a cell traffic statistics data(S402), a PDMF(Performance Data Management Function) requests the PDGF to measure the cell traffic statistics data(S403). When the second-unit statistics data starts to be measured, the PDGF requests transmission of cell traffic accumulation data from an IMC(Interface Module Controller) of an interface unit for the statistics subject which has been registered for every second(S404,S406). The IMC keeps counting the number of transmission and reception cells and discarded cells for every link and PVC connection, and when there is a request from the PDGF, the IMC transfers the currently counted cell traffic accumulation data to the PDGF and initializes a counter(S405,S407). When 10 cell traffic accumulation data are collected in lapse of 10 seconds, the PDGF checks the statistics subject which has been requested by the operator(S408) and transfers the 10 second-unit cell traffic accumulation data to the PDMF(S409). The PDMF outputs the data for the operator's recognition(S410). When 60 second-unit cell traffic accumulation data are collected in lapse of 1 minutes, the PDGF checks a list to be stored in a disk of an operator's disk and stores the 1-minute data in a buffer(S411) and stores the accumulation data in the disk(S412). When 5 seconds elapses, the PDGF checks whether there is a statistics subject to be measured newly and also checks whether to end the measurement for the current statistics subject(S413). When the operator requests the PDMF to analyze the cell traffic accumulation data stored in the disk(S414), the PDMF reads and analyzes the cell traffic accumulation data(S415) and outputs the analysis result to the operator(S416).
