CONSTITUTION: Streams read from an optical recording medium are analyzed, to check whether or not a specific caption mode was recorded in a preliminary region in a specific stream(302). The specific caption code is stored and the stored specific caption code is output when a command execution key is inputted(304). The specific caption code output according to the command execution key is displayed on a picture reproduced from the optical recording medium(305). It is checked whether or not the specific caption code was recorded in the preliminary region in a specific stream according as an identification mode exists or not.
