摘要 PURPOSE: A device and method of controlling engine torque of an automatic transmission is provided to prevent shift shock by continuous operation of an accelerator pedal by performing engine torque reduction control with a map table set according to a desired gear level. CONSTITUTION: A device of controlling engine torque of an automatic transmission includes a unit(10) for detecting the current speed; a unit(20) for detecting engine RPM(Revolutions Per Minute); a unit(30) for detecting the temperature of a coolant; a unit(40) for detecting a change of the opening degree of a throttle valve; a TCU(Transmission Control Unit,50) performing shift control into a desired gear level according to detection of a shift demand, and calculating engine torque reduction control value from an engine torque reduction map set according to the desired gear level, if another shift demand is detected while shifting into the desired gear level; and an ECU(Engine Control Unit,60) performing engine torque control by adjusting the quantity of fuel coming in a combustion chamber and adjusting the starting time, according to an engine torque reduction control signal of the shift control unit. A change of engine torque generated while shifting into a secondary desired gear level is excluded and thus, reliability and safety in running of the vehicle are secured.
