PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical recording and reproducing disk designed for a thin model with a simple structure and improvement of operability. SOLUTION: The device is constituted of a chassis 12 being mounted with a means 30 for recording and reproducing to a magneto-optical disk placed in a disk cartridge 20, a magnetic head 17 placed at upper part side of the recording and reproducing means and moving between a recording position contacting or coming close to the magneto-optical disk and a non-recording position estranged from the disk, a magnetic head rise and fall apparatus 16 to move the magnetic head between above positions, a cartridge holding means 13 which is provided with the magnetic head rise and fall apparatus, holds the disk cartridge together, and is provided with an actuator 14 which is turnable to the chassis and drives the magnetic head rise and fall apparatus between the disk cartridge insert/eject position and the recording and reproducing position of the magneto-optical disk, and a easing 11 on which the cartridge holing means 13 is arranged at the upper side of the chassis. The chassis is arranged at the cartridge insert/eject position in the casing having angles so as to be lower at the entry side an higher at the back side. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
