PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a full color image excellent in color balance and high in reproducibility on transfer material by compensating the decrease of the sticking amount of black toner on the transfer material caused by a reverse transfer phenomenon by forming a black image by using subtractive three primary colors. SOLUTION: At the time of forming the electrostatic latent images of the respective subtractive three primary colors in image forming units 14b to 14d, the electrostatic latent images are formed in a state where they are partially superposed on a black image data part together with the electrostatic latent image based on the image data of the respective subtractive three primary colors. The black image obtained by mixing the toner of the subtractive three primary colors is formed to be superposed on the image consisting of the black toner image transferred in an image forming unit 14a at the black image data part on the transfer material P. Even when the reverse transfer phenomenon of the black toner occurs in a transfer stage in the units 14b to 14d, the black image density is prevented from being remarkably lowered in a color image formed on the transfer material P.
