PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscope illuminable with a light of a specific wavelength which can eliminate troublesome work for switching a fluorescence exciting filter and simultaneously illuminable with a plurality of arbitrary wavelengths. SOLUTION: The microscope is constituted by being provided with a light source 1 for illuminating a sample, a first spectral element 4 for dispersing a light from the light source 1, a selective reflection member 5 for selectively reflecting the light dispersed by the first spectral element 4, a second spectral element 6 for combining the light reflected by the selective reflection member 5, a dichroic mirror 7, an objective lens 8 and an imaging element 11. The first spectral element 4 is disposed at a focal position in the front of a first lens 23. The selective reflection member 5 is disposed at a position where a focal position in the back of the first lens 23 and a focal position in the front of a second lens 24 coincide.
