PAINT FILM DAMAGE DETECTING DEVICE FOR BURIED PAINTED STEEL PIPE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paint film damage detecting device for buried painted steel pipe that can reduce the number of required workers by simplifying the work and can perform measurement on a gravel road or lawn. SOLUTION: This paint film damage detecting device is provided with a motor-driven cart 10, wheel type sensors 23a and 23b which detect the potential at the ground surface above a buried painted steel pipe 1 while an AC voltage is applied across the pipe 1 and an underground ground electrode, and a water tank 21 mounted on the cart 10. This detecting device is also provided with a header 26 which supplies the water contained in the tank 21 to the outer peripheral sections of the sensors 23a and 23b, and a signal processor 22 which finds the distribution of potential differences on the ground surface based on the outputs of the sensors 23a and 23b and detecting the damaged location of the steel pipe 1 based on the distribution of potential differences. In addition, this detecting device is also provided with another pair of wheel type sensors and a frame body which supports the sensors in a state where the sensors are fixed on the body and outputs the outputs of the sensors to the signal processor 22.
