PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protecting system against a new virus capable of protecting against an unknown virus as well as known viruses. SOLUTION: The invention is characterized in that a protecting device 2 is laid between the Internet communications network 1 and a terminal device 3 in the communications system consisting of the Internet communications network 1 and the terminal device 3 connected to the network. The protecting device 2 comprises a virus detecting means (Step S1) which detects a virus to destroy or illegally alter data in the terminal device in the data received from the Internet communications network, a virus eliminating means (Step S2) which eliminates the detected virus and an elimination confirming means (Step S4) which confirms the result of viruses having been eliminated by the virus eliminating means, and protects the terminal device 3.
