PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color copying machine capable of performing copy without performing pre-scan. SOLUTION: Inputted image data in an RGB form which is read from an image input part 1 are written in an image memory 4 via a shading/gap compensation part 2 and an inputγcompensation part 3. The inputted image data are supplied to a detection part 21 via a first color space conversion part 5, classification of color/monochrome and ground levels, etc., of the inputted image data are detected. Next, states of a second color space conversion part 6, a selector 7 and a frame erase and ground removal part 10, etc., are set based on these detection results. Then, the inputted image data is read from the image memory 4 again and supplied to an image output part 12 via the first color space conversion part 5 to the outputγcompensation part 11.
