PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric transformer drive circuit highly improved in efficiency wherein a through-current does not flow. SOLUTION: The piezoelectric transformer drive circuit comprises; a first series connection body 1 which connects in series first and third switching means Q1, Q3 and of which the both ends are connected between both terminals of a DC power source 4; a second series connection body 2 in the same manner of the first series connection body; a third series connection body 3 which connects in series one input electrode 52 and the other input electrode 51 of the piezoelectric transformer PT, and inductors L1, L2; an output voltage detecting means 7; a load current detecting means 8; a frequency control means 10; and a concurrent on-state inhibiting means, which is composed of a series circuit formed of first resistors (R3 and others) and second resistors (R4 and others) that connect diodes (D3 and others) in parallel, and which is connected to each gate of the first switching means or fourth switching means (Q1, Q4).
