PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically extract performance information from the sound- recorded waveform of music whose musical score is known. SOLUTION: A frequency analysis of the sound-recorded waveform is taken to extract keying timings and key chords. Reference performance information is prepared which is obtained by converting the musical score itself into the performance information. Then the relation between the analytic result and respective note-on timings of the reference performance information is found. The lateral axis of Fig. 10 shows the note-on timings of the reference performing information, the longitudinal axis represents the extracted keying timings, and the polygonal graph shows its approximate characteristic. A sound whose sound level is too low to extract is estimated according to the note-on timing and approximate characteristic of the reference performance information. The estimation result and extracted keying timings are merged together to obtain output performance information relating to the sound-recorded waveform. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
