PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fulfill the requirements that desired reproduction and distribution control has to be carried out when creating MIDI data and that control information has to be added effectively to the MIDI data and that the general control information such as about the author has to be retrieved from the MIDI data. SOLUTION: This MIDI data recording method consists of a step to obtain MIDI data, a step to obtain identification information of the author of the MIDI data, a step to add the author identification information obtained in the above step to the above obtained MIDI data, and a step to record in a predetermined format the data added with the author identification information obtained in that step.
