PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which is different from a conventional car- navigation system in which every time map data are updated, storage media, etc., are needed to be replaced. SOLUTION: A broadcasting station using each channel of ground wave digital broadcast transmits different data for updating map data in storage media, and vehicles receive the different data for updating the map data. A broadcasting station divides the area which can be served into two or more blocks and gives a block code for every block and makes different data for every block, which are transmitted by each channel of ground wave digital broadcast. When vehicles move, they discriminate the block codes which show the current positions in which they are and receive only the different data between the blocks in which currently they are and adjoining blocks, and eliminate the other unnecessary map data.
