A small proportion of determined electrical power, which feeds the traction motor (10) rotors (10R), is preferably between 10 to 15 percent of the total power. A thyristor braking drive (6) in front of the traction motors recuperates the electric power furnished by the motors when they operate as generators during for example braking. A part of the calorific power recuperated during braking is used for locomotive and/or coach heating. The locomotive is fitted with a gas turbine (1) driving a reduction gear (2) which drives an onboard alternator (3). The locomotives traction system is characterized in that the traction motor(s) is/are asynchronous wound pole type(s). Each motor (10) has an inverter (5) and receives a small proportion of the electric power to supply the rotor (10R) with AC current, by varying the supply frequency of the rotors, in order to vary the operating slip of the traction motors. The stator (10S) of the same motor is fed directly at the frequency of the electric power source.
|
