<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid pigment sensitized photoelectric converter device which can be manufactured at a low cost and has a superior photoelectric conversion efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: A solar battery 1A shown in Fig. 1 is a so-called dry solar battery that does not need an electrolytic solution, and it comprises a first electrode 3, a second electrode 6 so disposed as to face the first electrode 3, electron carrier layer disposed between the first and second electrodes, a pigment layer D in contact with the electron carrier layer 4, hole carrier layer 5 in contact with the pigment layer D and disposed between the electron carrier layer 4 and the second electrode 6, and barrier layer 8. All of them are formed on a substrate 2. The barrier layer 8 constitutes a short-circuit preventing means for preventing or suppressing a short circuit (leakage) between the first electrode 3 and the hole carrier layer 5, and is so formed that the porosity is smaller than that of the electron carrier layer 4. The barrier layer 8 is like a film (like a layer) and is disposed between the first electrode 3 and the electron carrier layer 4. By having the barrier 8, the solar battery 1A can obtain a superior photoelectric conversion efficiency. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
