PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized ammonia gas sensor which does not require frequency maintenance, such as the exchange, replenishment, etc., of an electrolytic solution and has good sensitivity in a low-concentration region and for which a high-quality sensitive film having few defects, etc., can be obtained easily. SOLUTION: This ammonia gas sensor 1 has a detecting element in which an ammonia sensitive film 7 composed mainly of a conductive polymer (ammonia-activated polymer) having ammonia detecting activity is formed across a pair of electrodes 3 and 4 provided on an insulating substrate 2. In the ammonia sensitive film 7, a polymer (a typical example of this polymer is polyaniline sulfonate) having a main chain and a side chain coupled with the main chain and having a sulfonic group is used as the ammonia-activated polymer. The film 7 contains an organic binder component composed mainly of a semiconducting polymer having a sulfonic group in its side chain. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
