PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain electrolyte which can acquire high charging efficiency if the electrolyte is used for a nonaqueous electrolyte electrochemical equipment. SOLUTION: The electrolyte in the invention containsα-substitutional oxy-γ- butyrolactone derivative indicated in a following equation (1) (X shows an organic group forming carbonate, thiocarbonate, acetal and ester or ether as well as oxygen atom adjacent to the X in the equation. Aγ-butyrolactone ring in the equation may contain a substituent and the several substituents may be bound to form a ring with 1 to 3 carbon atoms composing theγbutyrolactone ring. If the X is the organic group forming the ether with the oxygen atom adjacent to the X, however, theγ-butyrolactone ring in the equation includes at least one substituent besides a X-O-group shown in the equation).
