PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the standby power of a switching power source. SOLUTION: A switching power source that can reduce power consumption caused by a startup current is provided, wherein a constant current circuit to make the startup current constant is provided between a positive (+) line and a negative (-) line on the primary side of the switching power source; when the load side is in a standby state, the startup constant current is made to operate intermittently in matching with the intermittent operation of the switching power source in such a way that the duration of the time the startup constant current is off is longer than the time when it is on. Also, because the startup current is a constant current, the startup current does not increase even if the input voltage of the power source is raised, so that power consumption caused by the startup current is reduced.
