PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing method and a fixing device by which toner is heated, melted and fixed with good energy efficiency by ultrasonic vibration. SOLUTION: In the fixing method and the fixing device, the ultrasonic vibration is loaded to the toner 9 on a sheet to be fixed 4 by an excitation means 1 so as to heat, melt and fix the toner 9 on the sheet 4, and the sheet 4 is made to pass between the excitation means 1 and a reflection means 5 and a distance between the excitation means 1 and the reflection means 5 is set to 1/8 to 1/4 of wavelength, whereby resonance is caused to prevent energy reflection at the end face of the excitation means 1, and then ultrasonic vibration power is efficiently inputted to improve the energy efficiency.
