PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tandem type multicolor image forming device that restricts a so-called step-up phenomenon and prevents scatter of toner images superimposed one on another on an intermediate transfer belt. SOLUTION: In the tandem type image forming device that uses electrophotography and forms a multicolor image by overlaying images of separate colors, formed by corresponding image carriers and developing units, onto the intermediate transfer body sequentially while the intermediate transfer body makes one rotation, an electrifying member is provided for electrifying the intermediate transfer body surface prior to a process for transferring the image of the first color onto the intermediate transfer body.
