<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact discharge lamp lighting device and a car headlight providing less output waveform distortion and low noise. <P>SOLUTION: The discharge lamp lighting device is provided with an electric power source 21, a high-frequency inverter 22 which oscillates at a frequency of 1.1 MHz or more being supplied by the electric power from the electric power source 21, a resonant circuit 23 connected to the high-frequency inverter 22, which makes the high-frequency inverter 22 oscillate at a prescribed frequency, a discharge lamp 1 connected to the resonant circuit 23, a load detecting circuit 25 for detecting the discharge lamp connected to the resonant circuit 23 and a lamp voltage as characteristics of the discharge lamp 1, a drive circuit 26 which outputs a sinusoidal wave signal S to drive the high-frequency inverter 22, and a DC negative bias circuit 27 which adds negative bias to the sinusoidal wave signal outputted from the driving circuit 26. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
