<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation of a PC card HDD (hard disk drive) in an Ultra DMA (direct memory access) mode of high transfer rate. <P>SOLUTION: The portable information device comprises a detecting means 17 which detects equipment of the PC card HDD 10 to a PC card slot 9, the first interface 23 which communicates with the PC card, the second interface 22 of which transfer speed is higher than that of the first interface, and a switching means 17 which switches the interface of the PC card HDD from the first interface to the second interface when equipment of the PC card HDD to the PC card slot is detected by the detecting means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
