PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injector having a double mode function, and an engine using the same. SOLUTION: This isolation type fuel injector for a diesel engine has a mixture mode including uniform charge compression ignition injection and normal injection in a single compression process to the engine, and comprises a needle valve 100 mounted movably between positions for opening and closing nozzle outlets 126, 128, and an electric actuator 32 operatably connected to the needle valve.
