PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a load on a network or communication charges on a portable radio terminal when a landmark is selectively displayed on the portable radio terminal in a map information display system in which the information containing a map picture is provided to the portable radio terminal to be displayed. SOLUTION: First, the portable radio terminal 10 obtains only the map picture without landmark information from a map information server 50, then, according to the specification of the user of the portable radio terminal 10, obtains a landmark information file including the coordinate information of an object desired by the user from the map information server 50.
