<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for managing production of consumable items for label printers which can plan an effective production schedule. <P>SOLUTION: A label printer 105 reads data of a type and a volume for consumable items which are printed on an end of the rolled-up consumable items, and transmits the data to a branch office computer 101 and a customer computer 104. The branch office computer 101 receives the data of the types and the volumes for the consumable items, calculates the inventory volume for the consumable items at a customer site, and issues an order for producing the items up to the total consumed volume to a plant computer 102 if the inventory volume decreases to the predetermined volume. The plant computer plans a production schedule according to the order and produces the items based on the production schedule.
