PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact testing apparatus which makes the fall trajectory of a steel ball stable and improves reproducibility. SOLUTION: The method comprises keeping the steel ball by a permanent magnet and separating the steel ball from the permanent magnet in order to release keeping of the steel ball. The impact testing machine is made up so that the permanent magnet keeps the steel ball and that an electromagnet is employed to release keeping the steel ball. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
