摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a liquid crystal display device by which ideal alignment division of an alignment layer is made possible and to provide the liquid crystal display device wherein alignment of the alignment layer is stable and satisfactory display is made possible. SOLUTION: When the alignment layer 52 on a substrate 51 is irradiated with UV through an optical mask 53 to perform alignment division of the alignment layer 52, the optical mask 53 formed by providing a metal-dielectric multi- layered film 55 which is so optimized that UV 56 having a specified incident angle is transmitted on a light shielding patterned surface thereof is used. The liquid crystal display device has the alignment layer which is made of a mixture of a polyamic acid and a polyimide and wherein the mixed ratio of the polyimide in the total mixture is≤5% and the ratio of a diamine showing a vertical alignment property to the total diamine contained in the polyamic acid is≤70%.
