PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus or the like that can reproduce a more natural color while completely eliminating the effect of dust and a flaw on a photo film. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus is provided with: a light emission section that emits a visible ray and an infrared ray to a transparent original; an optical system that forms an image of a light from the light emission section transmitted through the transparent original; a photo detection means that detects the light transmitted through the optical system; a discrimination means that discriminates a foreign material area on the transparent original on the basis of the result of light detection of the infrared ray by the photo detection means; and an image composite means that aborts data of the foreign material area to compose the plurality of image data on the transparent original.
