PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of properly getting an ignition timing without applying a load to a calculator 1 in an ignition device for an internal combustion engine having a calculator 1 and an ignition output means 2, wherein the current flowing in a primary side 3 of an ignition coil is controlled by the ignition output means 2, a means for measuring the current flowing in the primary side 3 is mounted, a charge starting time is calculated by the calculator 1, and the ignition output means 2 starts the control of the current flowing in the primary side at the charge starting time. SOLUTION: This ignition device utilizes another means for triggering the ignition on the basis of the predetermined current flowing in the ignition coil, the time when the ignition is triggered is fed back to the calculator 1, and the calculator 1 calculates the charge starting time on the basis of the ignition trigger time.
