PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mud collector in which collection with a core sampler having a large diameter is feasible and a sample collected with even a long core sampler can also be taken out in the deposition state as it is and a mud collecting method. SOLUTION: The mud collector comprises a core sampler and a vibration type vibrator. The core sampler has a tube composed of a film therein. For arranging the tube within the core sampler, the mud collector is provided with a pipe for storing a collected mud sample, a cap ring at the tip of the pipe which is an edge for penetrating mud, and an inner ring for fixing the tube between the pipe and the cap ring.
